RETIRED WORKERS ARE NOT RETIRED VOTERS!. Make sure your local TD knows this and does not block the PBP Bill for Retired Workers Rights next Wednesday (Its called “Amendment to the Industrial Relations Act Retired Workers Bill”). Pensions, and pension rights for future workers, as well as currently retired workers, have taken a huge hit since the economic crash; and they’re still being undermined. It has to stop. Please view and share this video – it explains why support for the bill is important for ALL workers.

The government says they’re against LNGs, yet a huge LNG terminal is being built at Shannon!Last week the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) told the government they would not meet the target of a million ElecticVehicles (EVs) by 2030. This government, and the Greens in it, are presiding over a shambles of an environment policy. We say : NO to LNGs; YES to free, frequent, public transport.

Why now? We’ve been asking questions about the new National Maternity Hospital for years, only to be dismissed with a “move on…nothing to see here” type response. Now in the last week it seems all is not well, and there’s variance in government member’s responses to my recent questioning of the status of the NMH project, regarding ownership and control. All the more reason for citizens to come out(safely), Sat 26th, at the Dáil 1.00pm. #MakeNMHOurs.

Our National Maternity Hospital must be kept free of religious ethos. I debated the issue with Varadkar today. Effectively he’s saying ‘it’ll be grand…we have a deal to ensure all services will be available to women’. But the framework he’s prepared to accept has no guarantees. We’ve fought for too long, and we’ve given too much, to base our health needs on nuns on politicians’ promises. Join the Demo June 26

Light touch regulation is no regulation at all, and without regulation, unscrupulous builders, suppliers, developers etc, will rip us off, as thousands of families in the West have discovered. And it’s still going on – with the Strategic Housing Development plans set to tear up our communities, and the outrageous ‘give-away’ to developers, of our public land, by the Land Development Agency. The government, who should be preventing this madness, is instead facilitating it. They have to go! #micaredress

I was glad that at least the Taoiseach has agreed to look into expediting a requested meeting with the family of Noel Donohoe. It’s a year now since the unexplained death of the teenager in Belfast. Our support and sympathies are with his family.
