The following is the text of the letter I sent to Minister Bruton on foot of the issue of Walkinstown School being debated in the Dáil today. The school is loosing a teacher  for reasons that can only be discribed as ridiculously bureaucratic  The Minister and his deputy have a case to answer. Their response today was appaling and I have  written to them demanding action. Here is the text of my letter:

Dear Minister
I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms at the official responses made to myself and Deputies Joan Collins and Aengus O Snodaigh, at the Topical Issues debate on Wednesday 26th October.

Children, teachers and parents of the School of the Assumption in Walkinstown, this morning protested outside the school. Their issue is the fact that they will loose a teacher on Friday. Why? because they are loosing seven children from the school – families moved recently becuase they couldn’t keep up with the rents. And those seven children give the Minister the opportunity to cut back on the number of teachers they are formally entitled to. This is despite the fact that all classrooms are at maximum capacity, and very small spaces. This is not the last the government will hear of this – not if these children and their parents have any say it. I intend to bring this issue tothe Dail later today.
