Outsourcing, and the tendering for out-sourced contracts, seems to be the government’s solution to their every need, despite evidence of the disastrous results – Cervical Check and the National Children’s Hospital would be recent examples. Myself and Minister Pascal Donohoe certainly don’t agree – here’s a recent exchange on the issue.

Harris and co want to tell us there is no problem with outsourcing cervicalcheck to private US based labs; nothing to see , move on; But that decision is at the heart of this tragedy and we still need and demand answers . They went for privatisation to lower costs, with lower standards in US labs where workers were expected to examine 100 slides a day. Tell me again how outsourcing has nothing to do with this?
