The real legacy of Ahern and FF/FG; corruption, bad planning and prioritising developer’s profits. After 150 million euro and 20 years we still haven’t acted on the Mahon tribunal.

Brid speaks in support of the Anti Evictions Bill, making the point that government policy, based as it is on the solving the housing crisis through ‘market solutions’ (ie provate developers) is fatally flawed – the ‘market’ is not the solution – it is the problem.

Brid argues that Coveney’s housing bill represents an attack on the planning process, while pretending to address rent contol. She cites delaying tactics and failure to bring in adequate rent controls currently and historically, as examples of Fianna Fail, as well as Fine Gael, consistently serving the interests of the landlord class and REIT fund holders.

Great photos of Sunday’s Street Feast at IMMA with End Direct Provision Dublin, where we enjoyed food prepared by residents from Direct Provision centres. People living in Direct Provision do not have their own kitchen or table to participate in Street Feast, like other Irish communities. This event aimed to change this for the day and to allow the discussion about ending Direct Provision to continue. Great food cooked by people not allowed to cook for their kids!
