Responding to reports that Fine Gael may use a parliamentary device to impede the progress of the AAA-PBP Bill which provides for a referendum to repeal the 8th Amendment, Ruth Coppinger TD said:   “These threats are being reported as being motivated to placate the Independent Alliance TDs who voted for this same Bill 18 months ago and have not yet ruled out supporting it again.

Short address by Brid after the AAA PBP Bill for a Referendum to Repeal the 8th amendment to the consitution, was ‘stitched up’ by the FG (including Kate O Connell TD) and Indepedents (including Zappone) in the Dáil.

The public meeting organised by People Before Profit last night in the Central Hotel, Dublin, was a great success. Over a hundred people, packed the room to hear a platform of speakers demand a referendum to Repeal the 8th amendment, and to reaffirm PBP’s committment to a woman’s right to choose. People Before Profit support Psychiatric Nurses in strike action decision

Drastic measures required due to short fall in funding and staffing levels

Brid-Smith-2a-241x300People Before Profit fully support the decision of the Psychiatric Nurses Association members to go on strike in reaction to chronically low staffing levels in hospital and community services. The members of the PNA have voted by a margin of 87% for strike action.
